Spread Firefox, often abbreviated as SFX, is a community of thousands of Mozilla Firefox enthusiasts whose goal is to spread Firefox as far and wide as possible. The community website is based on Drupal, an open source content management system.

The grandest of the publicity campaigns so far was the New York Times Campaign. Over 10,000 people donated money to the campaign, which paid to run an advertisement in the New York Times.

Projects include:

  • Designing promotional material
  • Placing promotional banners and buttons on websites or in forum signatures
  • Writing reviews or articles about Firefox
  • Asking businesses and public institutions to install Firefox on their networks
  • Telling friends through word of mouth
